The UK is prepared to move forward with using the total value of frozen Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to participate in talks.

They further noted that the decision would be implemented in tight collaboration with the America.

UK sanctions have frozen over £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow launched its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, funds allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had only been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their goal to drive progress toward employing the total worth of the seized Russia's state assets to end the war.

He noted that further sanctions soon would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This declaration comes after European Union officials gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss using immobilized Russian assets for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to seize or utilize frozen Russia's holdings, as reported by media sources.

The value of seized Russian holdings in the EU is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on Friday, leading to electricity outages in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

Two people were lost their lives and at least 20 people were hurt in the assault, the Ukrainian government said.

In a update on social media after the attack, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike targeted public and utility structures.

"What is required is not empty words but concrete steps - from the United States, EU, and the G7 - in supplying anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing penalties," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to join the Purl program, under which partner nations purchase military equipment from the US to donate to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's firm backing for Kyiv, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as impose more measures on Moscow.
